Oxford’s for Women

Women have been wearing clothing meant for men since a long long time. And they look good in it. So obviously it doesn’t take a lot of math to understand that women wouldn’t leave out footwear that was meant for men. Oxfords, Derbys and Brogues have set men apart in terms of its class and sheer masculinity forever. But it adds a certain class and mystique to women too. And this pair of Eliza Donnatein, Oxford’s got me. I love both the colours that they are available in.

These aren’t priced too high (Rs 1500 at Shopper’s Stop) and are pretty comfortable. I’m tempted to pick up both shades that the Oxford’s are available in… but my gradually increasing foot size is holding me back.

Do you own a laced man shoe??

Shoefu’s first exhibition. Glee!

Since I’ve vowed to keep my reader’s poster on what I’m upto rather than just disappear for long spells of time, it is time to tell you about an impending exhibition.

It’s been a while that I’ve wanted to make Shoefu designs that weren’t part of a brief but just out of my head.
Ofcourse a million tiny and not so tiny things encourage me into doing what finally comes out on that canvas shoe.

Sketching has been happening over the last six months and I realize that depression and anxiety work well for me. ;)

October 10, 2010 is the day that Shoefu will exhibit its wares for the first time. This is happening locally, so that the people from within my vicinity know what this is all about.

Few of the designs are ready and I will be posting them under the title Exhibit A

Coming soon – Exhibit A!

Shoe-bite

You know bout the saying ‘It is only those you love that can hurt you the most’? That kinda happened to me yesterday.

I picked a really cute pair of rainy flats the other day. It’s got a super awesome large cream coloured rosette on it that simply called out to me. It was definitely love at first sight. At-least for me it was.

Aren’t they simply beautiful! They are I know. :-)

I wore them for barely 30 minutes last evening of which i walked for only 7 minutes. In those 7 minutes the beauties turned to beast.

I had my nastiest shoe-bite of the century.  I took a picture of the shoe-bit too, but I think they’re way to gory for public viewing. My Achilles however, feel that giving undue photographic attention to the flats with teeth is unfair.

I don’t think I’m now going to wear these very soon or very later either :-( . But they’ve made a place in my heart, so I guess the only option I’m left with is to make a similar pair for myself. ;-) The advantages of being a shoe designer!Ha!

Little update

Hi,

I’ve been out of here for a very long time. My apologies. But a lot has been happening.

I quit my day job earlier this year without a backup. I knew in my head that I wanted to do shoes and do it seriously. Ofcourse, the idiot that I am, I didn’t dive right into it but took a month long vacation!

In the month of April however, I pulled up my socks and re-enrolled my self to shoe class (FDDI, Bandra) . This time around I had a clear mind about what I wanted to learn and how much I wanted to extract out of the course.

I’ve been at it intermittently since April and am still a month-month and a half away from completing my course, much to my mum’s displeasure (I should’ve ideally finished by July).

However, what I’ve learned surely pleases me. :)

I’m presently working on an ankle length Derby boot and a gladiator. The sampling for checking out the fit has been done.

Next week I’ll start with the final product. I’ve purchased a powdered red rexine for the Derby ankle boot and a gun-metal rexine for my gladiator (I’m making a pair for myself ;) ).

I intend to keep you guys posted about what I learn and how I cope with my shoe class.

In case you’re a student of footwear yourself and have a doubt or two, do let me know. Maybe, just maybe I could help. I know I will try.

Peace n out.

Do you remember the time?

Tomorrow is the 51st birthday of the King of Pop…and I know you already know that.

Millions and trillions and gazillion people have done whatever they could to pay an ode to the man who is no more. Flashmob’s happened in many places (i don’t think any happened here), dedications, blogs, loads of gossip and some other stuff of which I have no inkling.

I’m doing something as well. Something like a tribute to the man who’s music will keep him alive.
The idea came from a friend (Thanks Paddy!), which is to paint a few shoes Black n White. Now the beauty is that I won’t have to explain why I’m painting them monochromatic.

About four shoes are part of this tribute. You could see what you like and place your orders.
The designs will be up tomorrow. (Again I don’t have to explain why)

Peace!Michael-jackson-Dance-Shadow
